Luxury Dude ranch Mountain Getaways

Mountain Getaways at this Colorado Luxury Guest Ranch
2 night minimum
(available May 29 - October 31, 2009)

Relaxing with a glass of wine on the deck at our Colorado Dude ranch, savoring the chef's pre-dinner delights and watching the sunset -- with no thought or concern other than the splendor of the Rockies at this Colorado dude ranch. A sublime end to a perfect ranch day.

luxury guest ranchSmith Fork Ranch invites you to our mountain hideaway to horseback ride and hike with us in the Gunnison National Forest and fly fish on the private waters of our Colorado guest ranch. Come enjoy an intimate dinner in front of the lodge fireplace, visiting our wine cellar beforehand to make your evening wine selection from among more than 250 labels. The gracious, attentive staff for your dude ranch holiday and our beautifully appointed cabins and Old Elk lodge await your arrival. Stay two nights or as long as you like. We doubt you'll want to leave.

Choose a charming, cozy cabin or lodge room for your living quarters for your dude ranch vacations. All have been carefully restored with the unique character of each  meticulously preserved. American primitive antiques, original art by native artists and furniture made by local artisans provide an ambiance of unpretentious luxury. From the spa robes in the slate-tiled bathrooms to the exquisite linens and feather beds, not a single detail has been overlooked at our luxury ranch.

luxury ranch diningLauded by Food & Wine Magazine and Town & Country Travel for our "haute western cuisine", Smith Fork Ranch takes a truly farm- to- table approach to food preparation, working closely with local organic farmers and ranchers and our own farmstead/garden to coordinate menu items with weekly harvests. Farm fresh eggs, poultry, meats and game such as elk and pheasant are delivered from local farmers and ranchers.  SFR is a great place for dining -- breakfast in the cookhouse, picnic lunch by a pond, or a candlelight dinner on our pavilion with panoramic view of the mountains.

We think you'll find the peace and serenity of the ranch food for your soul as well. From your porch or the lodge deck at daybreak you can watch wildlife in the meadows and up on Saddle Mountain.  At night from the hot tub, search for your favorite constellation in our sky of a million stars. Be as active or as restful you like, the guest ranch is yours to enjoy.

After an afternoon of fly fishing our ponds or our three-mile stretch of the Smith Fork River for hungry brown trout, rainbows or cutthroat  -- or riding through high mountain meadows of aspens and spruce, you may be ready for fresh baked cookies, tea, cocoa or wine in front of the fire. A-a-a-hh! And a nap.

Ranch Resort fishingOr perhaps it's time to explore our undiscovered corner of the Colorado Rockies. The north rim entrance of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is only 25 minutes from our luxury dude ranch. Take a self-lead tour to see the most prominent sights of this spectacular canyon or hike paths along the rim.

There's antique shopping in nearby towns and The Creamery Arts Center, a juried gallery and shop displaying the work of area artists, potters, furniture makers, weavers, photographers. We'll also be glad to arrange wine tours; some of the best vineyards in the state are within 15 miles of the ranch. These vintners welcome wine tastings and are willing to share their secrets of wine-making at high altitudes. We would be a happy to arrange these day excursions from the luxury guest ranch with you.

Come experience the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountains at SFR. Unwind and recharge -- two nights or longer if you wish. Call for reservations: 970-921-3454 or e.mail us: reservations@smithforkranch.com. We welcome your queries.
