Big River Fishing at Smith Fork Ranch in the Gunnison River Colorado, Black Canyon National Park, Gunnison Gorge

The Smith Fork Ranch is located just minutes away from the famous gold medal waters of the Gunnison River. The "Gunny" as it is known to the locals, winds through the breathtaking Black Canyon National Park and the Gunnison Gorge.

The Gunnison receives very little fishing pressure compared to many of the other rivers in Colorado and its large and healthy trout population is an anglers paradise. Most of the year anglers can take large rainbows and browns that rise readily to a variety of different hatches including big attractor patterns and terrestrials.

The Roaring Fork, Crystal and Frying Pan, Taylor and Lake Fork rivers provide for many diverse fishing opportunities. Whether you enjoy fishing the clear, pocketed water of the Crystal, the fast freestone waters of the Roaring Fork, the unique canyon of the Lake Fork, or if you covet the fabled lunkers of the Taylor or Frying Pan, you will definitely be in for a treat when fishing any of these rivers as they are Colorado's best.

Our Activities Director will make arrangements for a guided float or walk/wade trip on any of the above rivers.
