Trail Rides The sun shines through the Aspen and Cottonwood trees on to the meandering trail as you and your family traverse across the mountain side. Through the trees and rock outcroppings you see the West Elk mountain range, a rare and beautiful backdrop. The wrangler on the little grey mare stops telling his story about the bear in the cook tent by drawing a finger to his lips; "Shhhh," he whispers as he points to a small herd of mule deer trotting through a meadow full of wildflowers. Every where you look, color, wildlife, and natural beauty fill your vision as you and your horse navigate rocks, creeks and rivers, and mountainous terrain, all while enjoying the company of your family and new friends. There is no better way to see the country than from the back of a horse. Sure footed and skilled, our horses have had years of experience roaming the mountains surrounding Smith Fork Ranch. Some of our guests may have never ridden before, or may be nervous or hesitant, but that doesn't last long! With our wrangler's instruction and encouragement guest's fears melt away when they swing into the saddle, give their horse a pat and follow their wrangler into miles and miles of natural beauty. Come start the adventure of learning more about horsemanship and Colorado's flora and fauna with us, we guarantee you an experience of a lifetime!
 | "How can we ever begin to thank you enough for these few days? Even though I was well-acquainted with the brochure, I never really realized how fantastic SFR is... I absolutely loved every second-OK, especially the horse adventure expedition! Staff-PERFECT." Kitty, Colorado. | |
