Maintenance
Smith Fork Ranch is an upscale guest ranch in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The ranch specializes in fine dining, excellent service, extensive wine cellar and luxurious guest accommodations in the rustic style. Our main activity offerings are trail riding and fly fishing, with other activities that include hiking, archery, team penning cattle on horseback, and a very active children’s program. With a capacity of 26-28 guests per week and a staff of approximately 27, SFR employs energetic, hardworking and flexible individuals who understand the main goal is to give guests a wonderful and memorable vacation.
Job description:
The Maintenance staff is made up of the Ranch Foreman who oversees all physical aspects of Smith Fork Ranch, its buildings and grounds, and one other maintenance person, with other staff members assisting as needed. The work of the maintenance crew is at times all-encompassing: seeing to guest complaints, making necessary repairs, addressing water issues, helping care for grounds or with housekeeping, even driving guests or saddling horses. This position requires a sturdy work ethic, as well as the ability to assess a maintenance issue and address it efficiently and effectively. A typical work week is approximately 60 hours- some weeks more, some weeks less.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist Ranch Foreman with general maintenance of ranch buildings and facilities
- Basic plumbing and electrical repairs
- Carpentry repairs and building
- Help maintain, repair, and clean ranch vehicles as needed
- Maintain lawn and sprinkler system including mowing, weeding, fertilizing and re-seeding as necessary
- Be available for needed repairs and other problems in guest lodging
- Operate a variety of ranch equipment as needed (i.e. skid steer, Ranger, chain saw, Gator, ranch truck, etc)
- Take guests on off-ranch excursions as needed
- Participate in regular weekly activities such as staff/guest luncheons, campfires, cookouts and special events
- Take part in evening dish duty rotation (amongst all available staff- between once and twice a month)
- Assisting with any ranch chore or activity as needed or directed such as wood cutting, lawn care, housekeeping, washing vehicles, etc. -particularly on Sundays
- Flood irrigation of pastures
- Contribute to the whole guest ranch experience with participation in weekly events such as Staff/Guest luncheon, Saturday night cookout, campfire, and dances, and other special events
- Take part in evening dish duty rotation (amongst all available staff- between once and twice a month)
- Maintain a level of dedication and pride in the work at Smith Fork Ranch by helping out in times of need and completing each job to the best of your ability
- Be a part of the SFR team, contributing talents, input, and enthusiasm
Requirements:
- At least 19 years of age
- Knowledge and experience maintenance of vehicles
- Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge
- Knowledge of equipment and equipment repair
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong ability to work independently
- Able to take initiative to see what needs to be done
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds
