Surrounded by Colorado’s beautiful Gunnison National Forest and West Elk Wilderness with several managed trout ponds and nearly three miles of private river, Smith Fork Ranch offers first rate fly fishing in a breathtaking mountain setting. You can meet your private guide in Trout Central (our well stocked fly shop) after breakfast, fish all morning, enjoy a streamside picnic, fish all afternoon, and still not see another soul all day long without leaving the ranch property. 

If you are feeling more adventurous, SFR is surrounded by the least traveled, most pristine area of Colorado and fishing pressure in our vast back country is almost nonexistent.   The numerous ponds and streams that dot the high country landscape are home to wild populations of native cutthroats, brookies, browns and rainbows.   Leave the ranch with your guide and a boxed lunch early in the morning, on foot or on horseback, and spend the day fishing in a pristine mountain valley where your companions will likely be the only other fishermen you see.
For the ultimate in fly-fishing, a day on “the Gunny” is not to be missed. Gunnison River Expeditions specializes in providing float fishing trips in this world-renowned, gold medal trout fishery. A float through the steep walled Gunnison Gorge is recognized as one of the top fly fishing trips in the lower 48. This National Conservation Area lies just downstream of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and features spectacular scenery, interesting geology, sightings of varied wildlife, and most importantly excellent fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout. Trophy rainbows measuring 20”+ are the prize of the “Gunny”. The Colorado Department of Wildlife routinely conducts fish shocking surveys that show the Gunnison River to hold more fish per mile than any other river in the state. The 2008 data showed 8,779 fish per mile. The occasional sighting of big horn sheep, mule deer, river otters, and eagles will heighten your appreciation of this unique resource.

If you need a break from fishing or have non-anglers in your group, SFR offers an array of activities including horse back trail rides, lessons and arena work; hiking; archery; off-ranch excursions to area wineries and to the galleries and workshops of exceptional local artists and craftsmen.   Spa services are available for an additional charge.

Balance of reservation due 60 days prior to arrival.
For reservations placed less than 60 days prior to arrival, full amount of reservation is due at time of booking.
We accept personal checks, travelers checks, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Sales tax and 15% service charge will be added to your bill.

Cancelation Policy for Reel Women's Retreat Package
Due to our intimate size and remote location, cancellations can affect us significantly. Consequently we adhere to a strict cancellation policy. if for any reason you must cancel your reservation, we will gladly return your funds, less 10% of the total cost of the reservation, if a cancelation is made in writing 30 or more days prior to arrival. No refund is available for cancelation less than 30 days prior to arrival. No credit will be allowed for absences during the reserved stay or early departures. Please note: There are no exceptions to our cancellation policy, whether it be for reasons of illness, family emergency, travel or weather difficulties.
