Farm-to-table isn’t a trend here – it’s a way of life

Smith Fork Ranch is truly blessed to be located in the mountains overlooking the North Fork Valley,  the heart of Colorado’s most fertile growing region.

We celebrate farm-to-table cuisine by partnering with the Valley Organic Growers Association, promoting sustainable agriculture in western Colorado; finding the best artisanal products; and respecting our local farm economy, traditions and habitats. There aren’t many places that can compare to this valley’s diversity of offerings. From a variety of orchards – including cherry, apple, peach, apricot and pear – to the abundance of organic farms and ranches, and a burgeoning wine scene. In the North Fork Valley there is a spirit of terroir that is all its own.

We are passionate about food and wine; and cherish our long-standing farm-to-table relationships with the local farming community. We are deeply involved in working with the best farmers, ranchers, orchardmen and wine makers in the fertile valley below our ranch.  Smith Fork Ranch’s renowned cuisine is rooted in what comes from those local organic farms and growers.

As a result, the Smith Fork Ranch dining experience will provide a level of enjoyment and health that is well beyond what is available in today’s fast paced, drive-thru world…simple, clean, elegant food that explodes with flavor.

We welcome you to come and explore our cuisine with us.

Breakfast in the Cookhouse or in the morning sun on the Cookhouse Deck.

Guests wake in the morning to the cool Colorado air, sunny skies, and a sense of relaxation. Breakfast starts before you’ve even left your cabin, sip on a warm mug of coffee that has been brewed fresh that morning and delivered to your porch. Once the coffee has energized you for the day stroll over to the Dinner Bell Cookhouse where a warm breakfast of our buffet awaits you.

You’ll be greeted by our friendly staff and met by the welcoming aroma of ranchmade breakfast pastries and ranch cured & smoked bacon (you’ll never look at bacon the same way). Grab a seat in the historic Dinner Bell Cookhouse or out on the deck if weather is nice and get started for the day with some of our ranchmade muffins and scones, a bowl of ranchmade granola, yogurt, or fresh seasonal fruits, fresh baked quiche, a casserole and more. Our hearty breakfasts will prepare guests for an adventure filled day in the Colorado Mountains.

On warm days and nights enjoy lunch or dinner on the open-air pavilion with stunning mountain views.

Noontime is such a beautiful time of day at Smith Fork Ranch. We take advantage of that by scheduling as many meals outside on our canvas covered pavilion deck as weather permits in the summer. It is a casual setting for guests to enjoy the warm sun and beautiful views together while refueling after their morning adventures and before afternoon adventures.

Offerings range from Made-to-order burger day; Ranch-made pizza day; Taco day; Other specials; and everyday a healthy farmstead garden salad is available with grilled chicken or other additions.

On cool nights, dining by the great river rock fireplace in the Fireside Room of the Old Elk Lodge.

Our goal with each dining experience is to showcase the American West as a bountiful gourmet table under. Our culinary team builds on tradition and history stretching back to the Ute Indians’ use of abundant wildlife and the 19th-century cattlemen’s development of the area’s fertile land.

Much of SFR’s offerings are sourced from our local farming community that has long attracted folks to the Smith Fork Ranch region. Our culinary team will be letting you know what was harvested for each meal, where it was sourced from and which local purveyors brought them to use. Dinner at Smith Fork Ranch is just as much an experience as the adventures they have gone on throughout their day and can tell a story all of its own.

Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Old Elk Lodge by the fire, or on the afterdeck of the pavilion (weather dependent) with dinner in the Fireside Room, or on the Pavilion with stunning sunset views.

Smith Fork Ranch has a liquor license.  And as a result, over many years we have curated an award-winning wine cellar.

Please check out our wine list. You’ll find some wines that are available in some of the finest restaurants and wine stores in America, and others that are almost impossible to buy anywhere.   We have a selection of wines from the best wineries (our opinion) in Colorado, several of which are nearby* the ranch.

Award-Winning Wines

We’re dedicated oenophiles – and we love to share. In assembling Smith Fork Ranch’s Wine Spectator-awarded wine selection, we’ve chosen some favorites from our private cellar as well as other specific vintages from wineries we admire. Our offerings include bottles from the premiere growing regions of France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, South America, South Africa and America’s West Coast, as well as Colorado’s own fine wine country. Above all, we want you to enjoy a wine that is a perfect match for your meal.
