The Perfect Program

Smith Fork Ranch takes pride in a program that focuses on age appropriate activities that are both exhilarating and educational in the western environment of our ranch and the surrounding mountains and national forest.  Our youth counselors and guides have been carefully chosen for their talents, flexibility and experience with kids and teens from 4-12.  Activities vary, each depending on the age and interests of our young guests.

  • Play a game of volleyball
  • Hunt for river rocks and driftwood to paint
  • Pick and arrange wildflowers
  • Make boats to sail in the creek
  • Go on a scavenger hunt
  • Take a dip in the swimming pond

Eat Up!

We know that kids and parents don’t always agree on food – so we make it easy for everyone. In the evenings at 6 p.m., we offer an optional kids dinner with the counselors, while adults enjoy cocktails on the pavilion. Make-your-own pizza night and barbecue night are big hits, and we can always adjust menus based on age and preference.

Fun Under the Stars

The fun doesn’t have to stop as the sun dips behind Saddle Mountain. After dinner, kids can head to the front lawn or back pasture for supervised activities while adults linger over their meals. Gather down by the river at the campfire pit with log benches for storytelling or s’mores — popular with kids, teens and their parents. Gaze into the amazingly clear Colorado sky, learning about the planets and constellations for the perfect Rocky Mountain evening with family and friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Kids and Teens program available?

The Kids and Teens Activities are available during our Spring and Summer season only. Babysitting and Nanny services are available during our Fall season.

Does it last all day? What if we want to do some things as a family and some separately?

Half Day Morning Adventure: 9 a.m.- noon

Half Day Afternoon Adventure: 2-5 p.m.

Kid’s Dinner & Evening Adventures: 6-8:30pm

And of course, feel free to change it up day to day! We are here to make this exactly what you envision for your family. If that means a family day Tuesday and then setting aside some adult time Wednesday while the kids are busy with the counselor we are happy to arrange your days accordingly.

Will I eat meals with my kids?

Your whole family will eat together for breakfast and lunch. We do offer a nightly Kids & Teens Dinner available at 6 pm on the Dinner Bell Deck. If your kid’s decide they would like to sit with the rest of the kids we will get their dinner order off the kid’s menu that afternoon and it will be ready for them with a fruit and veggie tray to start. If you would like the kids to join you for dinner so they can fill you in on their day of exploring, we will make sure to have their place set at your family’s table!

What about after hours?

The Kid’s Program does not run after hours (after dinner) and all young children will be returned to parents by 8:30pm. However, we can arrange for after hours care with babysitting rates applying at $18.00 per hour.
