Six Things Your Kids Will Love At Smith Fork Ranch

Fresh air, outdoor adventure, a safe environment, experienced counselors – Smith Fork Ranch might just be the ultimate summer camp. Trust us: your kids won’t want to leave. Here are just six reasons why.

Equestrian Experiences7- Piper on pony ride

No visit to Smith Fork Ranch is complete without saddling up and getting to know a horse (or pony if you’re under the age of seven). SFR’s wranglers will hook kids up with just the right horse, and teach them to ride in a safe and fun fashion. They’ll enjoy rodeo games in the ring, classic cowboy stories and trail rides – an authentic Western ranch experience. Learn more

An Out-of-this-World Tree House

Follow a trail into a shady grove down by the gentle waters of Smith Fork River of the Gunnison. Look up. There’s SFR’s spectacular, multi-leveled tree house, providing above-it-all fun for kids – and maybe their parents, too!

Unfettered Access to the Great Outdoors

Just a few of the outdoor activities counselors will guide kids during the week (deep breath): trout fishing, wildflower arranging, scavenger hunting, water ballooning, pond swimming, nature hiking … and much more. Arts & Crafts Galore

Smith Fork Ranch’s gorgeous environs (both indoors and out) are sure to bring out your kid’s creative side. At the Homestead Hangout, they’ll be able to tie-dye shirts, paint river rocks in all kinds of colors, and build miniature boats to sail in the creek, all with the guidance of counselors.

Kid-Friendly Eats

The food here is excellent, using fresh produce and grass-fed meats from Colorado’s North Fork Valley. But we know that kids don’t care about that stuff – they just want their meals to be delicious. And the kitchen at Smith Fork Ranch always delivers in that regard, with kid-friendly eats offered throughout the week. Tuesdays are particularly popular – kids will make their own personal pizzas and ice cream sundaes, followed by movie night. A perfect night for the younger set.

  • Maybe you’ve got a foodie in the making? On Wednesday afternoons, kids can help out picking ingredients from SFR’s Organic Farmstead for that night’s dinner!

S’mores and Stargazing

What’s the best 4-Guitar at Sunset around the Fireway to end an action-packed day at Smith Fork Ranch? A campfire, of course. Gather down by the river for songs, stories, stargazing (your kids have never seen night skies this clear), and gooey s’mores. Say goodnight, and get ready for tomorrow’s adventures.
