With four guest bedrooms and a private suite (each with a private bath), the two-story Mountain House boasts beautiful views, handmade Americana furnishings, an expansive living room with a stone fireplace, a small kitchenette, and a wrap-around porch that invites you to relax and unwind in the fresh mountain air.

Note: The Mountain House can be booked as a 4 bedroom home with optional West Elk suite, booked separately.

Half-day guided outdoor activities per person every day of your stay:

  • Begin with an orientation ride, where you'll meet your horse and learn from our expert wranglers
  • Saddle up for a guided horseback riding on ranch trails and up into the surrounding mountain wilderness
  • Hone your skills during a fly casting clinic and fly fishing experience with our guides; top-of-the-line equipment provided
  • Go on a private ½ day guided fly fishing adventure
  • Take a ride into the wilderness for back country fishing in pristine mountain drainages
  • Shoot sporting clays at our world-class five-stand shooting platform, featuring renowned Beretta shotguns, a flurry trap, 3 harrier traps and vistas, with instruction from our expert guides
  • Take aim with a long bow at our archery range and six-station adventure course, with instruction provided by our expert guide
  • Go on a guided mountain biking trek on ranch and National Forest trails; top quality bikes and equipment provided.
  • Hike gorgeous Rocky Mountain trails accompanied by a guide

Summer season ranch-organized events throughout the week:

  • Go on a morning horseback ride stopping along the way at a trailside camp for breakfast cooked over an open fire
  • Ride your horse up to Vista Mountain, stopping for hors d’oeuvres, wine, camaraderie and spectacular views
  • Gather for a weekly campfire with roasted s’mores
  • Dance or tap your feet to live music in our open-air pavilion

Half-day guided youth adventures for children ages 4-11 (available through September 1):

  • Climbing the multi-level tree house
  • Learning to ride horses and care for them
  • Developing new skills such as archery or mountain biking
  • Scavenger hunts, water balloon games, soccer, swimming in the pond and hiking
  • Nature walks learning about the flora and fauna of Colorado
  • Arts and crafts in the kids tents... and much more!

Note: Half-day adventures are typically 2-2.5 hours. Nightly kids dinners are available at 6 p.m.  All children are returned to their parents by 8:30 p.m. or babysitting rates at $18 per hour will be applied.

Included in our rates:

  • All lodging accommodations. Twice-daily housekeeping and all in-room luxury amenities.
  • Daily coffee & tea bar, breakfast, lunch, hors d’oeuvres and dinner. Unlimited soft drinks and assorted beverages and snacks.
  • On-ranch, guided activities including all gear and equipment (Spring/Fall: 1 activity per person/per day Summer: 2 activities per person/per day)

*All accommodation rates are subject to an 18% ranch fee and Colorado taxes.


We require a 50% deposit of your total reservation payment upon booking. This includes the 18% ranch fee and Colorado taxes.

A second deposit, the remaining balance, is due 90 days prior to your arrival. For reservations placed 90 days or less prior to arrival, the full amount of reservation is due at time of booking


Due to our intimate size and remote location, cancellations can significantly affect us. As a result, we adhere to a strict cancellation policy. Please note: There are no exceptions to our cancellation policy, whether it be for reasons of illness, family emergency, travel or weather difficulties. We strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance.

Cancellation notification must occur at least 91 days prior to your arrival date to receive refunded payment. A 10% fee of your total reservation amount will be non-refundable.

Cancellation notifications occurring 90 days or less of arrival are not eligible for a refund. Your deposit may be applied as a credit for future reservation within one calendar year.

Current rates and restrictions apply at time of rebooking. No credit will be allowed for absences during your reserved stay or for early departures.


Our experienced and knowledgeable staff is happy to make additional Colorado adventure and relaxation opportunities available to our guests. Some of the items and services not included in the All-inclusive Rate and Service Charge are:

  • Smith Fork Ranch Spa services and treatments
  • Apparel and goods for sale in the Round-Up or Gallery
  • Alcohol purchases from the bar
  • Off-property excursions (e.g. float trips, rafting trips, glass blowing)
  • Colorado Fish, Wildlife & Parks Licenses
