Mountain Biking

Welcome to fat-tire heaven. At Smith Fork Ranch, you can enjoy a leisurely roll through the ranch property and Gunnison National Forest … or hit one of our technical single-track trails for an adrenalin-pumping, thrill-a-minute ride. Our staff is always ready with suggestions on where to go for your two-wheel adventure in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and we’ve got all the gear you need to get started.

Great Trails

Head for the hills! Virginia Creek Trail offers complete access to National Forest land and miles of wide biking trails, perfect for the intermediate rider. Looking for something more intense? We recommend a biking in the mountains challenge on the Bear Track Trail which takes you part way up Saddle Mountain. A soothing spa treatment after this ride is recommended!

Our Bikes

Hop on to one of our Specialized Rockhopper Mountain Bikes, designed for efficiency and comfort on varied terrain, with sizes ranging from small to large. We also offer child-sized bikes for riding on the dirt road and around the compound. Get ‘em started early – pretty soon your kids will be joining you out on the trails.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are coming from across the country. Do we need to bring out own bikes?

If you want to bring your own bikes, please feel free! If not, we have plenty of Specialized bikes available for all ages and sizes.

Just looking for an exercise, do we have to go with a guide?

Mountain biking is one of our activities that gives you the option of going with or without a guide. If you’re looking to get out and stretch your legs solo, just let us know and we will make sure there is a bike waiting for you at the Round Up so you can hit the road. The guides are also happy to provide a lift in the ranger up to the top of the trails so you can enjoy flying back down.

My kids love biking, what size bikes do you have?

We do have some kid size bikes available but please note we do not have training wheels, as our road and terrain wouldn’t be the most user friendly for those still learning how to ride.
